Tickets are now available for the first annual Eames Foundation Fundraiser. 100% of proceeds will directly benefit the Foundation's outreach and capital-repair programs.
In celebration of the Eames House's 60th anniversary, the family of Charles and Ray Eames invites you to the first annual Eames Foundation Fundraiser at daughter Lucia Eames’ Petaluma home, a treasure trove of the Eameses' work. During this enchanting afternoon, you will explore the creativity and philosophies of the Eameses through many original examples of their work, as well as through the creation of your own and communal work.
Furniture * Films * Exhibit Displays
The afternoon begins at the residence and gallery of Lucia Eames, where she will share the Eameses' work from her collection, the largest in private hands. View original Eames furniture plus the complete Gifted Eye exhibit, an exhibit of 100 photos taken by Charles Eames and curated by Eames Office Director and grandson Eames Demetrios. Enjoy a close look at rarely-seen films such as Two Baroque Churches in Germany, and models and panels from exhibits such as the seminal Mathematica. Archivist and granddaughter Llisa Demetrios will lead small groups on a tour of the Eames archives.
Outreach Programs * Eames House
Experience the Eames philosophy through photos, models and projects from workshops and exhibits created and led by Education Director and granddaughter Carla Hartman. Celebrate the Eames House through photos, the Eameses' film House: After Five Years of Living, and Lucia Eames' poem that unveils the joy of waking up and heading down to a breakfast served by Ray Eames. House Facilities Director and granddaughter Lucia Dewey Atwood will show additional photos and answer questions.
Kite-making * Scale Line * Models * Lunch
During the second half of the afternoon, the activities move to the Barn, where Lucia Eames and Llisa Demetrios produce their art. View original exhibit displays from Mathematica. Create, make and fly kites; and participate in a communal Powers of Ten scale line after being inspired by the Teaching Scale film. And don't forget to enjoy lunch. At 5:00, we will honor all kites (and their makers).
