The Coloring Toy
The purpose of The Coloring Toy is to provide a jet assist into a world of color, drawing, shapes, and play. Each box contains eight die-cut panels, 16 premium crayons, and butterfly clips. The colorful panels have a variety of outlines die cut shapes to color, punch out, and attach.
Originally designed for and manufactured by Tigrett Enterprises, The Coloring Toy contained card-stock, coloring crayons, and butterfly clips: “All the ingredients for a kind of fun that children have enjoyed for a long time.”
Charles and Ray’s idea for the product developed as an outgrowth of a toy masks project that they started in 1950. Each sheet of card-stock came with a variety of outlined die-cut shapes for children to color, punch out, and attach. They could play and create by making objects, architectural structures, and abstract or realistic figures.
