Case Study: Adapt Design Release

Exhibition Date: January 10—February 10, 2026

80 years ago, the launch of the Case Study House (CSH) Program challenged modernist architects to imagine a new way of living for postwar Los Angeles. Charles & Ray Eames’ response was Case Study House #8, the Eames House in the Pacific Palisades.

In response to 2025’s devastating wildfires, the CSH program was revived as Case Study: Adapt (CSA)—a contemporary application of the ethos of the original program as Los Angeles communities rebuild with fire resistance and climate resilience at the forefront. 10 architecture firms participated in the initiative, designing 16 homes for families affected by the fires across both Pacific Palisades and Altadena.

The design release exhibition features architectural models created by students at USC School of Architecture in collaboration with the Case Study: Adapt architects. Displayed alongside digital renderings created by the architecture firms, the models represent the homes that will be built as part of the initiative. The students also rendered the houses from the original Case Study program, which can be viewed here.

The Eames Foundation is proud to showcase this exciting project and the climate-resilient homes that will be built by our neighbors in the Pacific Palisades.
