Before the Fair

Highlighting the last-minute preparations for the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair, this film was shot and assembled spontaneously to highlight the use of Herman Miller furniture around the fairgrounds in both rest areas and the US Science Pavilion. Photographs of construction crews, the nearly completed exhibition buildings, and the myriad shapes and textures of the site are paced to the increasingly accelerated music of Gavin Gordon’s “The Rake’s Progress.”
