We rang in Ray’s Centennial with two unrepeatable experiences: a one-night-only exhibit of Ray’s early paintings (some unseen for 60 years) and the raw structure of the Eames House living room festooned for their first Christmas.
After seeing the Eames House exhibit, Eames family members and special guest hosts led tours to the other four Eames Exhibitions (part of the Getty’s Pacific Standard Time initiative): the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the JF Chen Gallery, the A+D Museum, and culminating in a champagne tour of Eames: The Design of Knowledge at the Eames Office. An incredible Eamesian weekend, this was the last full weekend all five sites could be visited.
