Herman Miller Nemschoff filmed industrial designer Jess Sorel and Eames Demetrios, Eames Office Director/Eames Foundation Board Chair, discussing the guest host relationship. Charles Eames stated that the role of a designer is to be “a very good, thoughtful host anticipating the needs of his guests”. The pair used this idea to frame a conversation about design, with an example of how Jess’ Palisade Collection creates a welcoming hospital environment for both patients and visitors.
